Having obtained my CELTA teaching qualification in 2007, I have taught English for well over 10 years. I love helping students to gain confidence and fluency, and seeing how stronger communication can improve their lives. In more recent years I have started teaching creative writing, having undertaken creative writing training with the Faber Academy (Faber & Faber), the University of Bristol, Arvon, Hinterland, and the Irish Writers’ Centre.
I have a first-class degree from the University of Sheffield and a master’s from the University of Bristol, along with a Level 3 Award in Education and Teaching. I also have an enhanced DBS certificate and am a member of the International Phonetic Association.
I love languages and speak French, as well as having studied Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Thai.
My students come from a wide range of backgrounds, including school and university students developing academic skills, professionals improving workplace communication, and beginners, including refugees and asylum seekers learning ESOL. I have also taught employees at companies such as Airbus, Carrefour, and Lidl. All share the goal of expressing themselves clearly and confidently in English.
I am originally from Oxford and currently live in Bristol, in the south-west of the UK.
